Boris Pecigoš

[EN]
My name is Boris Pecigoš. I was born in 1974 in Zagreb, Croatia. I live and work in Rijeka, on the border where the sea and the mountains meet. They are my inexhaustible inspiration and connection to the Source. I have had many interests over the years, but the art has proven to be one of the most important media to me. I am inspired by powerful and beautiful nature, gentle and meditative music, profound and emotional poetry, mystical and zen spirituality. It all started as a mere hobby, but eventually grew into a professional engagement in art.
I graduated at Arthouse – College of Visual Arts [link] in Ljubljana, Slovenia, and earned Bachelor of Arts degree (BA). I continue my education for the Master of Fine Arts (MFA) within which I work on an extensive project of land art.
I am a member of HDLU Zagreb (Hrvatsko društvo likovnih umjetnika Zagreb / Croatian Association of Visual Artists Zagreb) [link].
I am the founder and head of Atelier Hayat where I artistically act, and the editor of web portal Čarobna šuma (Magical Forest) [link] where I am active as a nature lover, writer and poet.
So, let my art says more about me, and feel free to ennoble your home.

[HR]
Inspiriraju me moćna i prekrasna priroda, nježna i meditativna glazba, duboka i emotivna poezija, mistična i zen duhovnost.
Osnivač sam i voditelj udruge Atelier Hayat u kojoj umjetnički djelujem. Urednik sam internetskog portala Čarobna šuma [link] na kojem sam aktivan kao prirodoljubac, pisac i poeta.
No, neka moja umjetnost kaže više o meni, a ti budi slobodan oplemeniti svoj dom.

“The invention of photography had released painting from the need to copy nature leaving the artist free to present emotion as directly as possible and by the simplest means”
Henri Matisse
(1869–1954)

“Of all the arts, abstract painting is the most difficult. It demands that you know how to draw well, that you have a heightened sensitivity for composition and for colors, and that you be a true poet. This last is essential.”
“The true work of art is born from the ‘artist': a mysterious, enigmatic, and mystical creation. It detaches itself from him, it acquires an autonomous life, becomes a personality, an independent subject, animated with a spiritual breath, the living subject of a real existence of being.”
Wassily Kandinsky
(1866–1944)

“The modern artist is working with space and time, and expressing his feelings rather than illustrating.”
“I don’t work from drawings. I don’t make sketches and drawings and colour sketches into a final painting.”
“Today painters do not have to go to a subject matter outside of themselves. Most modern painters work from a different source. They work from within.”
Jackson Pollock
(1912–1956)

“I don’t listen to what art critics say. I don’t know anybody who needs a critic to find out what art is.”
Jean-Michel Basquiat
(1960-1988)
