[EN] My name is Boris Pecigoš. I was born in 1974 in Zagreb, Croatia. I live and work in Rijeka. I have had many interests over the years, but the art has proven to be one of the most important media to me (besides my love for nature). It all started as a mere hobby, but eventually grew into a professional engagement in painting and art. I graduated at Arthouse – College of Visual Arts in Ljubljana and earned Bachelor of Fine Arts degree (BFA). I continue my education for the Master of Fine Arts (MFA). I am the founder and head of Atelier Hayat, and the editor of web portal Čarobna šuma (Magical Forest).
You can easily buy my art internationally over Saatchi Online Gallery.
[HR] Moje ime je Boris Pecigoš. Rođen sam 1974. u Zagrebu, a živim i stvaram u Rijeci. Osnivač sam i voditelj Ateliera Hayat i urednik web portala Čarobna šuma.

“The invention of photography had released painting from the need to copy nature leaving the artist free to present emotion as directly as possible and by the simplest means”
“Of all the arts, abstract painting is the most difficult. It demands that you know how to draw well, that you have a heightened sensitivity for composition and for colors, and that you be a true poet. This last is essential.”
“The true work of art is born from the ‘artist’: a mysterious, enigmatic, and mystical creation. It detaches itself from him, it acquires an autonomous life, becomes a personality, an independent subject, animated with a spiritual breath, the living subject of a real existence of being.”
“The modern artist is working with space and time, and expressing his feelings rather than illustrating.”
“I don’t work from drawings. I don’t make sketches and drawings and colour sketches into a final painting.”
“Today painters do not have to go to a subject matter outside of themselves. Most modern painters work from a different source. They work from within.”
“I don’t listen to what art critics say. I don’t know anybody who needs a critic to find out what art is.”
